To see if Hate could come out
And play with It, but
Hate only laughed, No,
Not in the brightness of day,
Only in dark corners.
Why, O, why? asked Love.
Because this is our way, said Hate.
Now go play with joy.
Yet Love persisted,
And Hate only resisted.
Joy sat lone and cried.
Love couldn't hear Joy,
Couldn't see the tears It caused,
And so went back home.
