"Compared to You" // Last Updated 27.July.2007

Like "What Falls from Above", I was playing with rhyme scheme here and wrote this when about thirteen or fourteen. Again, incoherent imagery... or, at best, undeveloped imagery, but some of the lines are quite nice, I think.

I look at myself and laugh.
Scars from the forest, even on my thigh.
They cover most of me – how pathetic.
And what they don’t cover is instead pale skin,
Or freckles from the sun – now I’m telepathic.
How queer, how unfair I feel as I touch your skin.
You’re so perfect, so pure, and unscratched, too,
And look at me – all black and blue!
Compared to you, I’m a devil.
I pray I don’t go psychopathic
As the world fills with my evil,
My deceit, my sense of fashion,
And, yes, even my compassion.
You mutter, “How pathetic.”
I submit.
I admit
I am the fool
Who fell for you,
But you’re so perfect, so pure, and unscratched, too,
And look at me – all black and blue!
I wonder if it was right
To hunt that night.
Then I frown as you go to town
On your little jackass of joy
With you jacked-off toy.
Yet, you’re the one.
I feel it in my bones.
How queer, how unfair I feel as I touch your skin.
Freckles from the sun – I’m telepathic.
I have instead pale skin.
I frown – how pathetic.
Scars from the forest, even on my thigh.
I look at myself and laugh.
